The New England Machinery Model NESHC Single Head Capping System is a freestanding unit capable of being placed over an existing customer-supplied conveyor. Containers enter the system and are secured by a pair of coated gripping mechanisms. Simultaneous to containers being fed to the capping station, caps are transported from bulk supply via an orienting elevator. Caps are discharged from the elevator in correct orientation and transport by gravity down a chute to the capping station. Upon arrival of a container to the capping station, a cap is presented to the chuck by a delivery tray. It is picked off by the mechanical collet and begins to rotate. The rotating chuck then lowers to the neck finish and screws the cap onto the container. The chuck rotates to the desired application torque and releases the cap, preventing cap or thread damage due to over torquing. Upon completion of the entire process, the container is released and the next container is indexed into position for capping.
